It's been really hot!!! Over the past 10 days, I've managed to build the railing for one side of Bart's cabin. I'll stain it after the wood dries out a bit.
I had a slow start due to a change in design, other commitments, and the sweltering heat. But mostly, it was the heat.
Through this building process, I've learned to work in the shade, rather than fighting the sun. When we were erecting the logs of the cabin, we didn't have much choice about working in the sun, because there was no shade to be had. But now, I plan my work activities according to which side of the house is shady.
This side is shady in the mornings. Now, I'll rearrange my days so I can spend evening hours at the cabin in order to finish work on the back side. I'm slowly ticking off my list of unfinished jobs, and it's thrilling to put a check mark beside each completed activity.
